Arthritis Screen Panel
What it is
The Arthritis Screen Panel is a set of blood tests that help detect markers associated with different types of arthritis and autoimmune joint diseases. It plays a key role in diagnosing conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout, and other inflammatory disorders that affect the joints.
Uses
This panel is used to identify autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, differentiate between types of arthritis, and detect underlying causes of joint pain. It is also helpful for monitoring disease progression and assessing response to treatment in patients with arthritis.
Symptoms That May Lead to the Test
Doctors may recommend the Arthritis Screen Panel if you experience persistent joint pain, swelling, stiffness (especially in the morning), redness or warmth around joints, fatigue, unexplained fever, or if you have a family history of autoimmune disorders.
Abnormal Results
Positive or abnormal findings may indicate:
– Rheumatoid arthritis: Elevated rheumatoid factor (RF) or anti-CCP antibodies.
– Lupus and related disorders: Positive antinuclear antibody (ANA) test.
– Inflammatory arthritis: High C-reactive protein (CRP) or erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR).
– Gout: Increased uric acid levels in blood.
Risks
The test requires a routine blood sample and carries minimal risks. Mild pain, bruising, or bleeding at the puncture site may occur. In rare cases, dizziness or infection may develop.
