Urine Blood Test
What it is
The Urine Blood test detects the presence of red blood cells (RBCs) or hemoglobin in urine. This condition, known as hematuria, can be a sign of urinary tract infections, kidney disease, bladder problems, or other underlying health conditions.
Uses
This test helps in diagnosing urinary tract infections (UTIs), kidney stones, bladder infections, kidney diseases, and trauma to the urinary system. It is also used for monitoring patients with known kidney or urinary disorders.
Symptoms That May Lead to the Test
Doctors may recommend this test if a patient experiences symptoms such as painful urination, frequent urination, cloudy or reddish urine, abdominal or back pain, swelling, or unexplained fever.
Abnormal Results
Positive Urine Blood: May indicate urinary tract infection, kidney stones, trauma, kidney inflammation (glomerulonephritis), bladder cancer, prostate problems, or certain blood disorders.
Negative Urine Blood: Suggests the absence of detectable blood in urine, indicating normal urinary tract health.
Risks
The Urine Blood test is a simple urine test with no direct risks. It only requires a urine sample, making it safe, painless, and non-invasive.
